Wedding humor begins with the names of two people in love

For more than thirty years, wedding humor has been my hobby. My late husband was an OTR (Over The Road) trucker. Often I rode with him, always keeping an eye out for wedding notices in newspapers. When I couldn't be away from home, Ray collected papers at every truck stop he visited.

My name is Petunia Gould. Recently, a friend of mine happened upon this website--she was looking for a guide to writing limericks, of all things--and immediately suggested I submit part or all of my wedding humor collection for publication.

Well. I hadn't thought of that.

Admittedly, I HAVE given some thought to passing my clippings on to someone else when it comes my time. Here, then, are just a few of the hundreds in my pile. If you like these, I COULD be persuaded to share a few more....

Publisher's note: Are these the funniest examples from Petunia's wedding humor collection? Maybe. Maybe not. If she can be persuaded by enthusiastic readers to share some more, we shall see. She did, however, give me permission to share the following:

Before she became Mrs. Ray Gould, she was briefly engaged to a fine, hardworking young man named Charles Pigg. To this day, she shudders at how close she came to being known for all time as Petunia Pigg.

Wedding humor? Well...engagement humor at the very least. Was that WHY she broke off the engagement to Charles? She won't say.

Thanks for reading,

Fred
