Haiku humor gets the point across with no wasted motion.

There can't be. To write haiku humor, the poet has just seventeen syllables in which to incorporate image, emotion, and amusement.

Perhaps it's only my Caucasian perception, but I see haiku as being the bonsai tree of poetry: Compact, precise, and packing the power to impact one's emotions beyond all proportion to its diminutive size.

And...I like that. I also like Carolyn Tragget's work, which we accepted for publication the moment we read it.

Publication Date: December 5, 2007

He called me blossom
I thought he thought me pretty
Not going to seed

Should have known better
No froggy fairy princeling
I kissed warty toad

What could be better
Marriage made in high heaven
Raise up twenty kids

He calls me flower
Wants me to bake with flour
Old toad wants his cake

Carolyn has assured us that the old toad loves her poem...and is busily composing his own haiku for publication. We can hardly wait!
