Have you ever used anti-drug cartoons to bridge with your at-risk child?

Our CLUCKERS Anti-Drug Cartoons were inspired by concern for our own son. He would talk about the drug scene somewhat, the pervasive presence of street drugs everywhere, the peer pressure on people of his age. In fact, he gave us the idea for the title.

Kids, he told us, would often trade otherwise precious possessions for drugs. This was called CLUCKING. Guitars, iPods, cell phones (though the cell phones went LAST, since they were needed to stay in touch with dealers), bicycles, clothing, literally anything that could be bartered.

Thus, CLUCKERS anti-drug cartoons were born in 2004. We discovered a hoped-for payoff quite early: Our son got a big kick out of a lot of them, and it helped him open up to us much farther than he had done before.

Not quite as far as we would have liked, of course. Not until he got busted for driving on meth did the reality of his drug usage get his full attention. But even then, and during the court-required Drug Education classes thereafter, the cartoons definitely helped.

He's been clean and straight for a long time now (whew!), but the cartoons have kept going.

It's a good thing anti-drug cartoons enable us to find some humor with drugs the way they are today, because quite frankly there isn't a whole lot to laugh about from most angles. That's why we (my wife and I) decided to do something a little extra special with this particular page.

What might that be?

Quite simply, IF you're a parent with ANY concern that a child of yours MIGHT be involved with drugs...OR might be subject to peer pressure at some time in the future...OR simply worry that your son or daughter isn't telling you everything you need to know about what's going on in their lives....

In that case, we're heartily RECOMMENDING you visit the best anti-drug site I've ever seen on the Internet. No, it's not more anti-drug cartoons. What it is, well, clicking on the link below OR on the cartoons above will get you there, and you can decide for yourself.

Which is the only way in any event...right?

Thanks for reading,

Fred
