It really helps when a bit of humor brings a smile or even makes us laugh out loud, doesn't it?
I learned the Power of a Smile many years ago in Billings, Montana. I'm not usually subject to depression, but that day I was down. Really down.
In early afternoon, while a friend and I were walking down a city sidewalk, I saw a little girl coming the other way. Not alone, of course; her mother was with her.
However, I only remember that darling little tyke, about four years old. She caught my eye, tiny angel that she was, and smiled at me.
Sure, she might have been simply happy, or passing on the love she felt for her mother, but I see happiness and love as being synonyms for humor. How much love can you give anyone when you're NOT in a good humor?
Of course, good humor should be easy to maintain with views like the photo above (which shows the ridge to the northeast of our former western Colorado home)...right?
At any rate, the sparkle in that little girl's eyes transformed my day. I smiled back, we passed each other, and the moment was over.
Neither her Mom nor my friend had a clue that anything at all had happened. But I never forgot: Soul to Soul, we two connected, and that precious gift lifted me out of my self-pitying state to get on with Life. I could laugh again!

I never knew that little one's name, of course, but her magic smile is the inspiration behind our LAW, our Little Angel Warranty: Every bit of material available on this site, or by linking from this site, must pass the CAT test.
Which is to say, it must be Clean And Terrific. Yes, it requires a little extra energy to do it that way. That's okay. My wife and I believe it's worth it.
